Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres is set to wed her girlfriend, actress Portia De Rossi, in the highest profile gay wedding since California started authorising same sex marriages in May. The couple will try to dampen an expected media frenzy by holding the ceremony at a secret location and inviting just a few close friends, Us Weekly reported. The California Supreme Court in May overturned a ban on same-sex marriages, opening the door for DeGeneres, 50, and De Rossi, 35, to get hitched. They have been dating since 2004. A few days after the ruling, DeGeneres announced on her Emmy-winning show that she and De Rossi were planning to wed. "It's something that we've wanted to do, and we want it to be legal, and we are very, very excited," DeGeneres said at the time. "I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation, and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights," she said.
