I'm happy with Demi and her daughters: Ashton Kutcher

Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher says he is perfectly happy being married to actress Demi Moore - who is 15 years his senior - and playing parent to her three daughters. "I am happy with my married life and feel complete to be with Demi. The daughters from her side are also my life. They give me open and unconditional love and everything that I do revolves around making them happy as they too do the same," said Kutcher. "Adjusting with older people is not new to me. Most of my friends are older and I have no problem in adjusting with them," he said. Kutcher at the age of 27 had tied the knot in September 2005 with the acclaimed Demi who was 43 at that time. Demi has three daughters from her second husband, Hollywood actor Bruce Willis, whom she divorced in October 2000. Demi's first husband was songwriter Freddy Moore whom she had divorced in 1984 after a four-year-long relationship. Model-turned-actor Kutcher, who has featured in movies like Bobby, The Guardian, Butterfly Effect and Just Married among others, has played the lead role in What Happens In Vegas. What Happens..., which will be released in India September 5, stars the gorgeous Cameron Diaz as his co-star. "The film is about the different attitudes of men and women towards marriage. It is about the perspective of marriage from the guys and the girl's point of view," Kutcher said about the movie. About his character, Kutcher said: "I play the character of Jack Fuller. He is a happy go lucky person who takes life easy. He is not bothered by the happenings around him and wants to live life on his own terms and conditions." Kutcher said the story of the film starts from a point where Jack gets married to Joy McNally, played by Cameron, in an inebriated state. They want to part the next day until they come to know they have a won a jackpot of $3 million as a couple.

What Happens... is a comedy, the genre Kutcher is known for. He said the funny situations in the film are highlighted when the two characters discover each other's flaws. "When you have the flaws of two people put together, one's strength in character reveals the flaws of the other and I think that makes the story more funny and interesting." About working with Cameron, Kutcher said: "She is really a tough lady and I had to really work hard to look as fit as she is. I even hired a personal trainer because I did not want my leading lady to look as though she is in better shape than I am. "But she is really a nice actor to work with as she has all the professional qualities of a star. I was always anxious after a day's shoot to go for the next day as I will get to see her again." What Happens... has been directed by Tom Vaughan who debuted in feature films with the hit comedy Starter for 10 and then went on to make the HBO series John From Cincinnati and Big Love. About the director, Kutcher said: "I saw his first film Starter for 10 and really liked it. He is one of those people who allow you to be your best. He doesn't take any credit for making you look great though; he just allows you to do that and then captures those moments. It was a blast making this film with him. I loved it." The film also stars Robb Corddry, Treat Williams, Denis Miller and Lake Bell.

Carmen Electra flatters herself in lawsuit documents

Not losing any opportunity for self-praise, actress Carmen Electra has called herself "immensely popular" in the documents pertaining to a lawsuit she has filed against a company. Electra sued Payment Data Systems for having made a merchandising agreement with her and then backing out, reports TMZ.com. The documents of the suit read: "The plaintiff (Carmen) is an extremely well-known and immensely popular actress, model and spokesperson, who has appeared in numerous films, including recent productions Epic Movie, Scary Movie 4 and Cheaper By the Dozen 2."

Michael Jackson looking forward to do great things

Pop superstar Michael Jackson, who turned 50 on August 29, said he has no plans of retiring from the music scene and insisted he has "great things" planned ahead in his career. Jackson, who transformed the landscape of pop music since breaking out as a solo artist in 1971, also asked his fans not to plan for his departure, contactmusic.com reported. "I am still looking forward to doing a lot of great things. I think the best is yet to come in my true humble opinion,” said Jackson on the US news show Good Morning. He added, "I am expanding a lot of avenues. People see some of the things I do and say, 'Why don't you show this to the world? People don't know these things!' Well, maybe I will." Jackson also admits he still looks back fondly at his trailblazing career, counting "the recording of Thriller and the Off the Wall album" as his "happiest" times. "That meant very much to me and seemed to be received so beautifully by the public and the world. You know, I enjoyed it very much," he said.

Fashion guru slams Miley Cyrus' dressing sense

Teen actress Miley Cyrus has come under fire from Heidi Klum's fashion guru Tim Gunn for dressing too old for her age. Gunn hit out at the 15-year-old star, insisting she dresses "too tarty" for teen audiences, reports Hollywood.com. "Forgive me. She is just a little too tart. I don't want her to look like she is going into a convent school. But it is just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn't know better, I would swear she was 25 years old," Gunn told Ok!
magazine.

Kate Moss immortalised in gold

A solid gold statue of supermodel Kate Moss is to go on display at the British Museum in October this year. The sculpture, crafted by artist Marc Quinn, has been valued at $2.8 million, reports contactmusic.com. Quinn says he chose Moss because she was the closest model to human perfection he could find. "I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who is the ideal beauty at the moment. But even Kate Moss does not live up to the image," Quinn said. Tipping the scales at 50 kg (110 pounds), it is believed to be the largest gold statue built since the time of ancient Egypt.

David Duchovny in rehab for sex addiction

David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction. In a statement released on August 28 by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family." The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com. She and Stein both declined to elaborate further. Duchovny, 48, plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime series Californication, which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins September 28. The actor appeared in the film The X Files: I Want to Believe earlier this summer. He has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

Tom Cruise in trouble over Valkyrie

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's troubled film Valkyrie now gets into a legal row - German extras have sued the studio United Artists' for $11 million for sustaining injuries on the set. Contactmusic.com reports that the film has been pushed back twice. The 11 actors are claiming that production personnel were aware that the World War II-era trucks that they were riding in were unsafe. Their lawyer Ariane Bluttner is insisting that Cruise, who is the executive producer of the movie, pay the amount for not ensuring the extras' safety.

She said: "Tom Cruise should have been more careful. It is obvious that being the head of a company you have to delegate some tasks. There are employees, colleagues or co-producers, to which you assign things to. "Tom Cruise being an actor in the film, it was not his task to be at the set and to check personally whether all the security measures were taken. But according to US law, he can be held legally responsible for the security measures not having been in place." She added: "For the moment we communicated our realistic demand of $11 million. This is going to be the basis of negotiations for now, if the opposite side contacts us and we sit down to talk."

Mia Tyler didn't know Liv was her half-sister

Model-turned-author Mia Tyler had no idea that Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler was her half-sister when they first met at an Aerosmith concert. According to contactmusic.com, neither of them knew of the other person's existence, but they felt they were intimately connected when they met backstage at their father Steven Tyler's show as kids. Steven is the lead singer for Aerosmith. Recalling her first meeting with Liv, Mia said: "There was this girl who looked like me. I went home that night and I couldn't stop talking about her, and my mom was like, 'Wait a minute...' and I think she started putting two and two together and she was like, 'That's your sister'." The two since then have been inseparable and are helping each other as they cope with single life. Mia said: "She's going through a divorce and I've been divorced so, it's a lot of adult conversations."

Italian prime minister croons love songs

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is recording an album of love songs that will come out at Christmas. Berlusconi, who was recently re-elected for a third term, has hit the studio with guitarist Mariano Apicella to record 14 tracks, which he has written himself, reports contactmusic.com. "The entire CD does not touch any political themes but is just about love," revealed Apicella. Berlusconi and Apicella collaborated in 2003 for an album called Meglio una Canzone (Better a Song) that reached the top 50 in Italy.

Kirsten Dunst dating rocker

Actress Kirsten Dunst of Spiderman fame is reportedly dating MGMT band frontman Andrew Vanwyngarden. "Kirsten met Andrew at a gig in New York in July and set her sights on him then. She was then seen backstage with him at Lowlands in Holland and Pukkelpop in Belgium earlier this month," a source close to her was quoted as saying by thesun.co.uk. The actress was earlier romancing Johnny Borrell, the lead singer of the band Razorlight. Interestingly, Andrew was previously linked with singer Fabiola Gatti who was Borell's ex-girlfriend. "It is all a bit mucky, as he (Vanwyngarden) has been linked with Johnny's ex, Fabiola. Andrew made quite an impression with the girls in the Hawley crowd, so they have got a few things in common there too," the source added. Borell and Dunst had been dating since March last year. The Razorlight singer had briefly moved into Dunst's rented north London home before they broke up last September.

Ex-wife's allegation shocks former Bond actor Lazenby

Former James Bond actor George Lazenby was shocked when his estranged wife in a court accused him of being a violent alcoholic. The mirror.co.uk reports, Lazenby was at a hearing in Los Angeles for the joint custody of his three children. His wife Pam Shriver's testimony convinced the court to grant a temporary restraining order and Lazenby called it "the biggest shock I've ever had." The 46-year-old Shriver filed for divorce and was also granted a temporary restraining order. The former tennis player claimed Lazenby was an alcoholic who gave beer to their children and threatened to kill her. Lazenby responded by saying that Shriver took a "nightly cocktail" of prescription painkillers and sleeping pills with alcohol

The 2008 Beijing Olympics Conclude With Help From British Stars

With help from British star power, China concluded its debut as Olympic host Sunday after 16 days of near-flawless logistics and superlative athletic achievement — coexisting awkwardly with the government’s wariness of dissent and free speech. A spectacular closing ceremony opened with torrents of fireworks and included a pulsating show-within-a-show by London, host of the 2012 Games. From a stage formed from a red double-decker bus, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page played classic rock hit “Whole Lotta Love” and soccer icon David Beckham booted a ball into the surrounding throng of athletes on the stadium floor.
Then more lyrical music returned, and the Olympic flame atop the stadium was extinguished. To a large extent, China, an emergent superpower, got what it had craved from these long-sought games: a dominant effort by its athletes to top the gold-medal standings for the first time and almost glitch-free organizing that showcased world-class venues and cheerful volunteers to the largest-ever peaceful influx of foreign visitors. As a bonus, not just one but two athletes gave arguably the greatest performances in Olympic history — Michael Phelps with his eight gold medals in swimming, Jamaica’s ebullient Usain Bolt with three golds and three world records in the sprints.

The International Olympic Committee, whose selection of Beijing as host back in 2001 was widely questioned, insisted its choice had been vindicated. “Tonight, we come to the end of 16 glorious days which we will cherish forever,” IOC President Jacques Rogge told the capacity crowd of 91,000 at the National Outdoor Stadium, and a global TV audience. “Through these Games, the world learned more about China, and China learned more about the world.” “These were truly exceptional games,” he said, before declaring them formally closed. The head of the Beijing organzing committee, Liu Qi, said the games were “testimony to the fact that the world has rested its trust in China.” He called them “a grand celebration of sport, of peace and friendship.”

Rogge and the IOC were criticized by human rights groups for their reluctance to publicly challenge the Chinese as various controversies arose over press freedom and detention of dissidents. Athletes shied away from making political statements, and “protest zones” established in Beijing went unused as the authorities refused to issue permits for them. But the atmosphere was festive at the stadium as fireworks burst from its top rim — and from locations across Beijing — to begin the closing ceremony. After an army band played the Chinese national anthem, hundreds of gayly dressed dancers, acrobats and drummers swirled onto the field, then made room for the athletes, strolling in casually and exuberantly from four different entrances.

China invested more than $40 billion in the games, which it viewed as a chance to show the world its dramatic economic progress. Olympic telecasts achieved record ratings in China and the United States, and the games’ presence online was by far the most extensive ever. Rogge said these Olympics would leave a lasting, positive legacy for China — improved transportation infrastructure, more grass-roots interest in recreational sports, a more aggressive approach to curbing air pollution and other environmental problems. Smog that enveloped the city early in the games gave way to mostly clear skies, easing fears that some endurance events might be hazardous for the athletes.

American rower Jennifer Kaido of West Leyden, N.Y., said the games exceeded her expectations. “We were prepared for smog, pollution, demonstrations, but everything has gone very smoothly,” she said. Rogge acknowledged that China, despite promises of press freedom during the games, continued to block access to numerous politically oriented Web sites, including those related to Tibet and the outlawed spiritual movement Falun Gong. However, he contended that media restrictions were looser during the Olympics than beforehand, “and so we believe the games had a good influence.” Human rights groups disagreed. “The reality is that the Chinese government’s hosting of the games has been a catalyst for abuses, leading to massive forced evictions, a surge in the arrest, detention and harassment of critics, repeated violations of media freedom, and increased political repression,” said Sophie Richardson of Human Rights Watch. “Not a single world leader who attended the games or members of the IOC seized the opportunity to challenge the Chinese government’s behavior in any meaningful way.”

Led by Phelps and Bolt, athletes broke 43 world records and 132 Olympic records during the games. Yet Rogge, who visited every venue, said the most touching moment for him came after the 10-meter air pistol event, when gold medalist Nino Salukvadze of Georgia embraced runner-up Natalia Paderina of Russia even as their two countries’ armies fought back in Georgia. “That kind of sportsmanship is really remarkable,” Rogge said.

Michael Phelps Looking Ahead To 2012 London Olympics

Look out London, Michael Phelps is coming to the 2012 Games and he’s thinking about adding events to his repertoire. “I am looking forward to trying some new events, some events I’ve never really had the opportunity to swim since my schedule is always so crowded,” Phelps said Sunday while taking part in the British capital’s handover celebrations. Phelps, fresh from the Beijing Olympics where he won a record eight gold medals, said he’s never competed in a backstroke event at a major international meet or in the 100-meter freestyle. “No breaststroke, no distance swimming, no open water swimming,” Phelps said. “At least those guys will still be my friends.” The 23-year-old American also confirmed that the 2012 games will be his last Olympics. “I’ve never wanted to go beyond 30,” he said. “I may go a few years beyond the Olympics. I said to my coach, ‘Don’t get any ideas because I don’t want to compete beyond 30,’ and he said, ‘That’s good because I don’t want to coach you past the age of 30.’” Phelps has said Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods are the two superstars he’d most like to meet following his exploits in China, and he could be emulating one of them already. Woods took time at the pinnacle of his career to remodel his swing to renew his dominance, and Phelps is speaking of completely switching the training program he has followed for the past decade.

Phelps said the changes suggested by coach Bob Bowman could help rejuvenate him mentally and physically after what he described as the most grueling period of his life. “Bob said to me that he’s going to take everything he’s done coaching me and throw it out the door and try something completely different, just to see how it works,” Phelps said. “We’ll try a bunch of new things. If we’re successful, great. If not, we can go back to what we’ve been doing.”

Only a supremely confident athlete would contemplate moving away from a program that has brought a record 14 Olympic gold medals, an unprecedented eight at one games and the unofficial title of history’s greatest swimmer. But “confident” sums up Phelps pretty well. Despite arriving in London late Saturday, Phelps posed good-naturedly with one of his medals through 10 minutes of blinding camera flashes—adopting each of the artificial poses requested of him with an easy manner and enthusiasm. Phelps said he was enjoying his celebrity status, but deflected suggestions that the rock star treatment could distract him from being as dominant in 2012 as he was in 2008. “If you’re having fun, that’s really all that matters,” Phelps said. “You can still do everything and still be successful. You can do anything and everything. One of the biggest things I’ve learned over last four years is that anything’s possible. “I’ve had some pretty lofty dreams in my head. Those dreams and those goals are going to stay until they’re accomplished,” Phelps added. “It’s not going to be easy getting there, there are going to be some bumps in the road here and there, but everyone has bumps in the road and it depends how you get over them.”

Jennie Garth & Shannen Doherty Party With New ‘90210’ Cast At Premiere Party

Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and the cast of the CW’s “90210” toasted the teen drama’s return to television Saturday night at a lavish invitation-only beachside premiere party. The sandy soiree was held inside tents on the Malibu shore — about 20 miles away from the Beverly Hills zip code made famous by the original series, which ran on Fox from 1990 to 2000. Original series stars Doherty and Garth, who will reprise their roles as Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor in the new show, arrived separately. Joe E. Tata, who will return as Peach Pit cafe owner Nat, also attended. All three posed for photos with partygoers. However, it was the new cast members who seemed to be having the most fun. Tristan Wilds, who stars as recent Beverly Hills transplant Dixon Wilson, and Dustin Milligan, who plays popular jock Ethan Ward, chatted at the party’s meat carving station. Lori Loughlin, who portrays Wilson’s mother Debbie, and Jessica Walter, who plays Debbie’s mother Tabitha, mingled at the noddle bar.
The premiere episode was not screened during the fete. In an unusual move, CW recently announced pre-broadcast copies of the series would not be distributed to TV reviewers and reporters. The CW said the lack of preview footage represents a “strategic marketing decision” by it and studio partner CBS Paramount Network Television. The new “90210” is slated to premiere Sept 2.

‘Tropic Thunder’ Reigns Again With $16.1 Million Weekend

The action comedy “Tropic Thunder” weathered a rush of new movies to remain No. 1 for a second-straight weekend with $16.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Paramount-DreamWorks release, which stars Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black as actors caught up in real battle while shooting a war movie, raised its 12-day total to $65.7 million. “Tropic Thunder” came in just ahead of Sony’s campus comedy “The House Bunny,” which debuted in second-place with $15.1 million. “The House Bunny” stars Anna Faris as an ostracized Playboy bunny who becomes den mother to a sorority of campus misfits. Universal’s “Death Race” — an update of 1975’s “Death Race 2000,” with Jason Statham starring as a driver in a kill-or-be-killed auto race of the future — opened at No. 3 with $12.3 million. The weekend’s other new wide releases, Ice Cube’s sports drama “The Longshots” and Rainn Wilson’s music comedy “The Rocker,” opened weakly. “The Longshots” — an MGM-Weinstein Co. release starring Ice Cube as a former high school star coaching his niece, the first girl to play Pop Warner football — came in at No. 8 with $4.3 million. 20th Century Fox’s “The Rocker,” starring Wilson as an over-the-hill heavy-metal drummer who gets a chance at stardom with a high school band, took in $2.8 million to finish at No. 12. After all the blockbuster weekends, late summer was proving the usual dumping ground for modest movies as business slowed and audiences eased into back-to-school mode. That opened the door for “Tropic Thunder” to repeat as the

weekend’s box-office leader. “There isn’t that divide where there’s a couple of huge movies coming every week,” said DreamWorks spokesman Chip Sullivan. Summer’s biggest hit, “The Dark Knight,” continued its climb up the box-office charts, placing fourth with $10.3 million. The Warner Bros. Batman sequel has taken in $489.2 million on its way to becoming the second film ever to top $500 million, after “Titanic” ($600.8 million). Overall movie revenues of $3.9 billion are slightly ahead of last summer’s record pace. But higher admission prices mean the actual number of tickets sold is down about 3 percent compared to summer 2007, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers. Still, Hollywood should finish with a new box-office record and a second-straight summer topping the $4 billion mark. “Thank you, `Dark Knight.’ That’s added close to half a billion dollars,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. “One film like `The Dark Knight’ can make a huge difference.” In limited release, Focus Features’ comedy “Hamlet 2” pulled in $435,000. Starring Steve Coogan as a high school drama teacher staging a campy, irreverent musical sequel to Shakespeare’s play, “Hamlet 2” expands into nationwide release Wednesday.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. “Tropic Thunder,” $16.1 million.
2. “The House Bunny,” $15.1 million.
3. “Death Race,” $12.3 million.
4. “The Dark Knight,” $10.3 million.
5. “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” $5.7 million.
6. “Pineapple Express,” $5.6 million.
7. “Mirrors,” $4.9 million.
8. “The Longshots,” $4.304 million.
9. “Mamma Mia!”, $4.303 million.
10. “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” $4.1 million.

Paul McCartney To Perform In Tel Aviv

Sir Paul McCartney is set to perform in Israel, 40 years after his legendary band, the Beatles, were banned from playing in the Holy Land. Israeli media were abuzz with excitement on Sunday with news of McCartney’s visit. The rock star was scheduled to play earlier in the year, but the show was canceled. Israeli media reported McCartney would perform in Tel Aviv on September 25. Tel Aviv city officials could not be reached to confirm the report. McCartney’s publicist, Stuart Bell said, “Nothing’s been confirmed.” The Beatles were set to tour the Jewish state in 1965, but they were refused entry permits over concerns the group’s lyrics could corrupt Israeli youth.

Madonna Kicks Off Her ‘Sticky And Sweet’ Tour In The UK

The queen of pop began her world tour Saturday night, appearing before fans on a throne as a retinue of dancers wriggled their way across a stage at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. An army of fans wearing pink cowboy hats and boas waited nearly two hours for Madonna’s concert to get under way, erupting into screams at the first song — “Candy Shop” — from her new “Hard Candy” album.

Some had been lining up since Friday to see the four-act show. It carried the usual Madonna fixtures: sequins, fishnets, and bondage-style outfits drawn from the 3,500 items of clothing reportedly whipped together by 36 designers specifically for the “Sticky and Sweet” tour. Promoters promised a “rock-driven danstastic journey” supported by a traveling crew of 250 — including a chiropractor, personal trainer and a masseuse.

The show itself includes eight costume changes, 16 dancers, and $1.85 million worth of Swarovski crystals. It is billed as a musical mishmash of “gangsta pimp,” Romanian folk, rave, and a nod to the blonde material-girl’s roots in the 80s New York City dance scene. Those roots go back three decades to when the aspiring singer reportedly showed up in city with just $35 in her pocket. Despite celebrating her 50th birthday just last week, the world’s top-selling female recording artist is still writhing, shaking and shimmying in the limelight — taking her place at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.

But controversy plagued the singer earlier this summer with the publication of a gossipy memoir written by her brother Christopher Ciccone, speculation about her relationship with New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriquez and rumors that her marriage to British filmmaker Guy Ritchie was on the rocks, which she hotly denied. Madonna’s tour was eagerly anticipated in Britain, where the pop superstar — known here as “Madge” — has made her home.

“I can’t wait for it to start,” Gemma Thomas, a 24-year-old fan from Merthyr, Wales, said before the concert. She said Madonna should not retire soon. “I hope it’s not her last tour.” Tabloids clucked approvingly at the more than 600 hours of rehearsal time and the monthslong exercise regime said to have gone into the show, with the Sun saying the singer was in “incredible shape” and crowing: “She’s still got the old Madgic.” However, others wondered at the singer’s carbon footprint, questioning the amount of carbon dioxide pumped out by ferrying Madonna’s wardrobe, makeup, and freezers (for ice to soothe the dancers’ aching feet) across the world.

After Cardiff’s opening concert, “Sticky and Sweet” moves across Europe, hitting London’s Wembley Stadium on Sept. 11 and Paris on Sept. 20. From there, it goes to North America in October before wrapping it up Dec. 18 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is Madonna’s first tour since striking a deal with concert promoter Live Nation Inc. worth an estimated $120 million over 10 years. The partnership gives Live Nation a stake of future music and music-related business she generates, including touring, merchandising and albums. Madonna’s last tour was her 2006 “Confessions.”

Baby-Name Experts Weigh In On Gwen Stefani’s Son ‘Zuma’

Try saying “Zuma Nesta Rock” five times fast — it’s hard. That phonetic flow could be tough to master, let alone live down, for the newborn son of Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani. The stylish rock-star couple welcomed their second little boy Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles. Little Zuma is the younger brother of two-year-old Kingston, who’s been known to sport a supercool faux-hawk and mingle with the likes of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. Growing up might present more challenges for Zuma than his sibling, based on his name alone. The Associated Press consulted its panel of baby-name gurus to weigh in on the quirky moniker.

EXPERT: Whitney Walker, co-author with Eric Reyes of “The Perfect Baby Name” and consultant through ThePerfectBabyName.com.

SPECIALTY: Phonetics and rhythm — how names sound and flow together.

IMPRESSIONS: “Zuma Nesta Rock sounds like a water park ride or a new energy drink. Zuma is unusual and rather appealing — for a girl. It’s said to be taken from Zuma Beach in Malibu, and while place names are great, they have to fit the gender of the baby. But with the `A’ ending and the popular `Z’ beginning (as in Zoe, Zelda, Zora), Zuma just sounds too feminine. So does Nesta (supposedly Bob Marley’s real name), and it’s not a good idea to pair two `a’ endings as first and middle names — too cutesy.”

“Rock is probably thrown in there just to point to the parents’ careers, and it does help to add some masculinity. Add Rossdale and you’ve got four names with the “S/Z” sound in common to tie them together, but they don’t flow rhythmically. Finally, it’s always a good idea to name siblings in the same genre, but Zuma and Kingston aren’t.”

GRADE: C

EXPERT: Maryanna Korwitts, author of “Name Power 101” and founder of BabyNamingCentral.com.

SPECIALTY: The holistic approach, from sounds and meanings to the impact of names, possible nicknames — even initials — on personality traits.

IMPRESSIONS: “This celeb couple certainly succeeded in choosing an unusual name. And they succeeded in making an even stronger statement about their fondness for Jamaica. Kingston is named after Jamaica’s capital, and Nesta was Jamaican singer Bob Marley’s given first name.”

“When it comes to historical naming tradition, both Zuma and Nesta are most frequently considered girls’ names. … As this child grows up, he will likely encounter some name-induced gender identity issues.

“As for the subliminal effect, the first name Zuma will encourage a career in acting or music, so this baby could find himself following in a parent’s footsteps with ease. But he is also likely to flounder when it comes to communication and relationship compatibility because he carries a name that will establish a highly private nature.”

“It seems the Rossdales scarified quality for quirkiness … and it’s a good bet little Zuma may be investigating a name change at some point down the road!”

GRADE: C-

EXPERT: Jennifer Moss, author of “The One-in-a-Million Baby Name Book” and founder of Babynames.com.

SPECIALTY: Practicality. Moss focuses on the research process, looking for influences such as family history and life experiences.

IMPRESSIONS: “First of all, Zuma? Zuma is a diminutive of the Aztec name Montezuma — not sure the Rossdales realize that. … But it’s also associated with the Zuma Beach (in Los Angeles), which is really beautiful. … A lot of people are using `place’ names now, and I think they used it after the beach, most likely.”

“I would recommend that the boy grow up using the name Rock Rossdale because that’s probably the only normal name in there. … He’s gonna grow up in the creative community, so I don’t think he’ll get picked on too much. But there’s only one percent of people (surveyed on Babynames.com) that said they loved it. And 50 percent said they hated it. That’s a lot.”

“Kingston seems so upper class and just sophisticated, that everybody was expecting another name that went along with it.”

Penelope Cruz hates acting in English films

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz hates acting in English films because she has to work extra hard on her accent. Cruz was born in Madrid and did not begin learning English until she was 18. George Clooney buys woman new car after crash

Hollywood superstar George Clooney bought a new car for an Italian woman after he damaged her vehicle in a minor accident. Thesun.co.uk reports that the 47-year-old actor hit the woman's Lancia Ypilson from behind. He quickly accepted the blame for the accident in Pennabilli, central Italy. When the woman went to pick her car up from repairers, she saw that Clooney had spent almost 14,000 pounds on a newer version of the car and also left a note of apology on the windscreen. Welsh singer Duffy, who became best-selling pop star of the year by singing emotion filled love songs about her break-ups, says currently she is enjoying lots of dates with different men. Mirror.co.uk quotes her as saying: "I just had a coffee with a guy, a musician, I can't say who, in Soho. We'll see what happens—some of the boys that I'm hanging out with will read this and think it's strange when I say I'm single. But it takes a lot to say 'right, we're doing this'. "There are a couple of things that I entertain myself with at the minute but it's borderline platonic right now. So, c'mon lads, gear it up a bit! I still meet boys all the time, they are lovely, gorgeous and funny, they tick all the boxes but there's one thing that happens to define love and I don't know what it is, until it happens. It's bizarre, it's the one thing we all talk about with our mates. What's on our minds at the pub or at work, what's the one thing we are looking for? It's that, well it is for me and my mates."

Talk show queen DeGeneres set to wed girlfriend

Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres is set to wed her girlfriend, actress Portia De Rossi, in the highest profile gay wedding since California started authorising same sex marriages in May. The couple will try to dampen an expected media frenzy by holding the ceremony at a secret location and inviting just a few close friends, Us Weekly reported. The California Supreme Court in May overturned a ban on same-sex marriages, opening the door for DeGeneres, 50, and De Rossi, 35, to get hitched. They have been dating since 2004. A few days after the ruling, DeGeneres announced on her Emmy-winning show that she and De Rossi were planning to wed. "It's something that we've wanted to do, and we want it to be legal, and we are very, very excited," DeGeneres said at the time. "I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation, and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights," she said.

Angry Potter fans forced to wait for new movie

Fans of boy wizard Harry Potter have reacted angrily to news that Warner Bros was delaying the release of the next episode in the movie series from this November to July 2009. The entertainment giant said it decided to postpone the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to take advantage of a "relative dearth" of major summer releases because of the recent writers' strike. "There is no production delay or production consideration," said Warner Bros executive Alan Horn. "It feels like we have an opportunity in the summer." But while the decision may appear to make sound business sense, fans of the series found it hard to justify. "Words fail me. Well, polite words, anyway," a contributor called Emma commented on the website Firstshowing.com. "I can think of plenty of swear words." Many other fans were not ashamed to use such language, but others signed an online petition demanding that the film be reinstated to its original November 21 release date. Others vowed to boycott the theatrical release of the movie and wait till it came out on DVD. But all were skeptical about Horn's comments that "We would never do anything to hurt one of the movies or the series. We love our fans." "WB, if you really loved me you would give me the film in November," said one contributor to the fan site Mugglenet.com. "Haha," wrote another. "I read the 'we love our fans' and was like...wow, what a lie."

Lauren Conrad’s Fashion Line Dropped By Kitson

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - “The Hills” star Lauren Conrad might be on television’s hottest reality show, but her clothing line is getting the cold shoulder from shoppers.Lauren’s self-titled line, the Lauren Conrad collection, has been dropped by trendy Robertson Boulevard boutique Kitson, Access Hollywood has confirmed. The celeb-frequented clothing store has donated some of “The Hills” star’s unsold clothing to charity, after they sat on the rack.

Kitson attempted to sell more of her clothes with a buy one, get one free offer, but shoppers were apparently not enticed with the idea of double dose of LC couture. The unsold items were donated to Kathleen’s Closet, an organization that provides prom dresses for girls who can’t afford them and a women’s shelter. The remaining unsold Conrad duds were shipped to storage. As for LC’s rival, Heidi Montag, she told Access Hollywood’s Dish of Salt, Laura Saltman last month, her line for Anchor Blue was doing well. “It’s the number one selling clothing line so it’s going well,” Heidi told Laura. “[It’s sold in] Kitson and all the Anchor Blue stores.”

Kate Winslet Talks Doing Love Scenes With Leonardo DiCaprio In Front Of Husband

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - It was more than a little awkward for Kate Winslet to film sex scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio in front of husband Sam Mendes, who directed the stars in the upcoming drama “Revolutionary Road.”“I just kept saying, `This is too … weird,”’ Winslet tells Entertainment Weekly magazine. “And Leo was like, `Oh, get over it.’ And I’m going, `Yeah, a little reminder: You’re my best friend. He’s my husband. This is a bit weird.”’Mendes, who directed “American Beauty” and “Road to Perdition,” says, “I will admit it was quite bizarre to direct my wife in how to make love. But it’s difficult whether you’re married to a person or not.”

It’s been 11 years since Winslet and DiCaprio co-starred in the Oscar-winning blockbuster “Titanic,” and Winslet says a spark remains between them.“I hadn’t realized how much my chemistry with him since `Titanic’ would still stick,” says the 32-year-old actress. “It’s great to discover we can just slip right into it, like muscle memory.”They play suburban couple Frank and April Wheeler in “Revolutionary Road,” based on Richard Yates’ 1961 novel. It is slated for release in December, just in time for Oscar consideration.

“We knew that if we were going to do something again, it had to be something big and emotional,” Winslet says. “`Revolutionary Road’ is so painful and beautiful to read, simply because of the brutality of the honesty that Frank and April end up experiencing together.”Winslet was eager to bring DiCaprio on board, and set up a sneaky way to do it: She arranged a meeting with the 33-year-old actor in March 2007, but sent Mendes in her place.“Leo and I have such a history together and I couldn’t imagine not being able to apply that to this story and these characters,” she says. “So I played this very clever cat-and-mouse game to get my husband and then my best friend involved.”

Kim Kardashian: Heading To ‘Dancing With The Stars’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -Kim Kardashian did little to dispel rumors she is heading to hit ABC show, “Dancing With the Stars,” when she made a red carpet appearance at “The Cheetah Girls: One World” premiere earlier this week. When asked if she was joining the cast of the program, Kim, a star of E! reality show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” looked bashful. “I don’t know,” she said.

If she does head to the show, whose cast will be revealed August 25, Kim may not be the most graceful woman on the dance floor. However, she may get some tips tomorrow, when she joins a famous pop act known for their fancy footwork. “I’m really clumsy and… I don’t know. I’m dancing with the Pussycat Dolls Friday, so that’s my first step,” she paused, “of trying to dance.”When asked who she thought were the best professional dancers from the program, Kim gave her biggest props to the cast’s women. “I think the girls are sexy – Cheryl [Burke], Edyta [Sliwinska], Karina [Smirnoff] – I think they’re all sexy,” she noted.

Other celebrities rumored to be joining “Dancing’s” Season 7 include singer Toni Braxton, country star Jewel and her husband, rodeo champ Ty Murray, former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, ex-*N Sync member Lance Bass, “Brady Bunch” mom Florence Henderson, TV and film star Tom Selleck and former TV “Batman” star, Adam West.

Officer Jonas Ready To Arrest The Pop Charts

NEW YORK, New York - Joe Jonas showed off his retro fashion sense in New York City on Wednesday, where he was dressed as a NYPD officer during the filming of the band of brothers’ as-yet-untitled 3-D movie.

It’s been a busy week for the Jonas Brothers, who have also made NYC stops at MTV’s “Total Request Live” and played a handful of concerts in support of the Tuesday release of their latest album, “A Little Bit Longer.” Billboard reported on Wednesday that the band is on track to earn its first number one album with the release, which is projected to sell between 675,000 and 725,000 albums. The album’s title track debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week with 131,000 downloads – marking the fourth time in seven weeks that the Jonas Brothers have scored the chart’s top debut of the week.

‘Harry Potter’ Cast Talks On- And Off-Set Romances

LONDON, U.K. - Danielle Radcliff may play a wizard in the “Harry Potter” movies, but when it comes to women, he doesn’t have any magic tricks.“Look at them until they notice you and hope for the best,” Daniel told of his courting rituals.

In fact, Radcliffe, 19, said he is only coming to terms with the dating process. “I never had any idea how to talk to girls until a year or so ago,” Daniel said. “I still come out with trivial crap when I’m flirting, but I like to think I’m doing it in a faintly endearing way.” And it’s not just “Potter’s” Radcliffe who is experimenting with relationships. On screen, while the sixth installment of the “Potter” franchise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” features flashbacks with the origin of the villainous Voldemort, it finds Ron and Hermione experimenting with their romantic sides. The film features a love triangle between Ron (Rupert Grint), Hermione (Emma Watson) and newcomer Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave, in her film debut) in which Ron shares a smooch with Brown to make Hermione jealous. Ron and Hermione won’t get together until “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows,” the two-film final installment of the franchise, which is due out in 2010 and 2011. Though fans may be waiting with bated breath, Rupert, for one, isn’t looking forward to it. “The whole kiss between Ron and Hermione will be quite uncomfortable,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Emma’s like a sister to me. It’s going to be like, really, really weird.” But Hermione and Ron won’t be the only actors steaming up the screen. The final film will also feature a scene of Potter, sans clothing.

“At first I thought I had pants on. Apparently not,” Daniel said. Having doffed his trousers onstage for the London West End version of “Equus,” which is heading to Broadway shortly, doing so on screen shouldn’t be much trouble. “It’s all old hat now, really,” he said. It’ll be even older by the time the films are released – according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, Warner Brothers has pushed “Half-Blood Prince” back to July 17, 2009, from its announced November 21, 2008 release date.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Reveals New Trimmer Figure

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was criticized by gossip magazines and blogs in November after being photographed in bikini in Hawaii, is back with trimmer bod. The “Ghost Whisperer” star debuted her slimmer figure in the current issue of US Weekly and revealed she lost 18 pounds in just 10 weeks. “I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up,” Jennifer, who is working with trainer Stevie Sant’Angelo, told the mag. “The energy level and the way I feel now is great.” Jennifer’s trainer said her motivations were not how she’d look on the red carpet, but her overall health. “With her, it’s not, ‘I want to look good in that dress,’” Stevie said. “She wanted to start moving around because she thought it would make her feel better. She said, "They said some rude, mean things, but that’s not why I wanted to change.’”

The 43-year-old star was acting as a panelist at the 72-hour marathon of improv comedy sketches held at NYC's Upright Citizen's Brigade theater over the weekend, August 9-10. According to the New York Daily News, Shields became "freaked out" when the stand-ups began mocking the tragic deaths of the actors to get a laugh from the crowd. A source tells the newspaper, "Everything was going great until three comics came out each playing a dead star. One was playing Heath Ledger as The Joker and he just kept listing prescription pills he had in his pocket. Another was playing Estelle Getty and the third was Bernie Mac's ghost. "She(Shields) was so freaked out her eyes welled up and she actually bit her nails at one point. When someone pretended to dump Estelle Gettys ashes on (3o Rock actor) Jack McBrayer's head, Brooke got up and walked offstage. Matthew McConaughey says the birth of his son will help bring a little joy to others in the world someday. The actor kept the placenta from the July birth of his son and plans to plant it in an orchard, he tells CNN's House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta in an interview scheduled to air in two parts on August 9 and August 16. McConaughey says he hopes it will fertilize the land, a ritual long followed in several cultures. "It's going to be in the orchards and it's going to bear some wonderful fruit," he says, according to an interview transcript. "When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river ... and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength. "This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous." McConaughey also says he and his girlfriend Camila Alves have enjoyed integrating their new baby, Levi Alves McConaughey, into their lives. Already they've started introducing him to the "sights and the sounds" of the world including a John Mellencamp concert. "You're never told in our house, 'Shh, Levi is sleeping.' No. Get used to the ambiance. Come with us. That's how I was raised," he says.

LaBeouf won't be main Indiana Jones star: Director

Hollywood director George Lucas has ruled out making Shia LaBeouf the lead character in his next Indiana Jones sequel and said the focus would be on Harrison Ford. There have been four instalments of Indiana Jones so far and Lucas had previously hinted that a fifth adventure could focus more on Indiana Jones' son, Mutt Williams, played by LaBeouf in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. "I have an idea to make Shia the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie," Lucas had said earlier this year during the film's promotion. However, he now insists Ford "is Indiana Jones" and said, "If it was Mutt Williams, it would be Mutt Williams and the Search for Elvis'or something and not Indiana Jones."

L'Oreal denies Beyonce Knowles light skin colour reports

Cosmetics company L'Oreal denies that it has changed Beyonce Knowles complexion and hair colour in their new ad campaign. The company got into controversy when a Beyonce picture showing her complexion lighter and reddish-blonde hair was published in Elle magazine. Thesun.co.uk reports that various newspapers have slammed the promotional picture for Feria hair colour. The editor of Britain's The Voice said: "There is an attitude in the modelling industry that black models do not sell. Models that end up in magazines tend to be very, very light-skinned or Asian. It appears Beyonce has been the victim of that kind of attitude. If it is true, I cannot understand why anyone would want to do anything so ridiculous. It is offensive to Beyonce. It is trying to distort who she is." "It is categorically untrue that L'Oreal Paris altered Beyonce's features or skin tone in the campaign for Feria hair colour," said a L'Oreal spokesperson.

Jackie Chan to star in Hollywood spy comedy

Jackie Chan's next Hollywood project is an action comedy about a Chinese spy working undercover in the US whose cover is blown, said the movie's producer. The Spy Next Door will start shooting in mid-October, said producer Robert Simonds. He said no one else had been cast. In an e-mail message, he described the film as a cross between Mr & Mrs Smith and Big Daddy. Chan plays a Chinese agent working undercover while on loan to the US government. His cover is blown when he looks after the children of his neighbor, a beautiful single mother, and one of them accidentally downloads secret codes off his computer. Solon So, the chief executive of Chan's company JC Group, confirmed the project but declined to give details. He said the movie may be delayed if the Screen Actors Guild fails to reach a new contract with Hollywood studios and goes on strike. Chan is a SAG member. Chan usually juggles Hollywood and Chinese-language projects. His last film was the American kung fu movie The Forbidden Kingdom which marked his first on-screen collaboration with action star Jet Li. He will next be seen in the Chinese-language Shinjuku Incident, reportedly about Chinese immigrants living in Tokyo's Shinjuku shopping and entertainment district. Simonds' producer credits include The Pink Panther, Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer and The Waterboy.
