Christian Bale Asks for Privacy in Assault Case

Christian Bale is refusing to talk about the recent assault allegations that have marred his promotional trip for new Batman movie The Dark Knight --urging the media to "respect his privacy." The 34-year-old actor was arrested in London on Tuesday over accusations he attacked his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, at the capital's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday night. Bale was arrested and questioned by police over the incident and was subsequently released on bail. The star has now spoken out about the matter--but only to ask the press to leave the case alone. He says, "It's a deeply personal matter. I would ask you to respect my privacy in the matter."
